About Mama Meg's Parent Support Groups
A little bit about your facilitator
My name is Meghan Elliott, but you can call me Meg. I use she/her pronouns. I hail from the Midwest, but live in Berkeley with my two children, spouse, dog and cat. I started this group because I felt very isolated during the postpartum time and was seeking community.
I am a Mama of two. My background is in Psychology, Women’s Studies, Food Justice, and Education. Our first child was in the NICU after surviving a difficult birth that required complex medical intervention. My second birth was smooth and my baby is healthy, but we had many breastfeeding struggles.
My experiences made me want to support other parents who struggled on the path. I became a Parent Mentor with the organization Support for Families of Children with Disabilities, and then became a Patient Navigator and Parent Liaison at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital. There, I ran a support group for parents and caregivers of children with disabilities and complex medical conditions.
I am a trained Lactation Education Counselor via UC San Diego. I currently train front-line healthcare workers in health coaching and complex care management skills via the UCSF Center for Excellence in Primary Care. I have a deep passion for supporting parents throughout their parenting journeys, and particularly in the postpartum time.
I look forward to meeting you and supporting one another on the path of parenthood!
